So there we have it, 6th stuff. The book looks nice but I will be waiting on the small version. I like the dice but I already have counters from another company so no use for me there. Dice holders are pretty smart, as it hopefully will keep you from picking them up and its better than the ugly 5th counters. I do not like the templates or the Ruler.The templates look good in the pictures but I bet they look as bad as the fantasy ones. The ruler how do you hold it? It probably Will break easier than a 4 buck one from home depot. Cards for the new Psychic Powers, interesting but what about daemons and orks? Are they screwed till they get a book or will they give us something for them. I guess time will tell.

Adepticon Review Day 3

The evil pigapult

The start of day 3 a wake up, with around 4 hours of sleep. I know this will cost me in the long run. I get to the Malifaux Master Qualifier with plenty of time though. Game 1 was against Avatar Somer gremlins, I take Colette as it is shared destroy the evidence. Cassandra grabs the neutral evidence first move of the game and I out run him to the rest, he did get Body Guard and 2 of his evidence markers, 8-4. Game two was against Rasputina and after learning how bad Rasputina did on this mission the last qualifier I take Ramos. After a hard fight I win the mission 5-2. Game 3 I find myself at the top table versus Avatar Ramos, and I take him myself. I made a lot of mistakes that I wouldn't have made if I had more sleep and lost the game 0-8. This knocks me down to 10th place. I stay around for the awards and get in the Masters due to people that cannot play or already qualified.

After the masters I go back to the room and veg out for awhile. Then I check on my friend I am rooming with playing Warhammer. At this time he was 1-1 losing the second game due to his wizard blowing up turn 1. I take some pictures of it and then some of the Crystal Brush. Just talking and goofing off the rest of the day I finally head to bed around 11pm while watching discovery channel.

Adepticon Review Day 2

So day 2 comes early with me getting up to make sure I get my 30 min early into the vendor hall. When I arrive down at it there is already a line for Forgeworld, oh well I just want the con only miniatures so I will pick them up later in the weekend without the wait. I get in and go right to battlefoam to buy the foam for super dungeon explorer for my wife, but they did not bring it with them. I head to the cool mini or not area and see there is really no one from soda pop miniatures this year. I pick up some instant mold and some spartan statue parts for terrain. I mess around most the day checking in on my friend playing in the lord of the rings tournament(for battle reports go to his blog .) 

Finally it hits the time for the Malifaux Master Qualifier 1.  First game I am against Cheated Fates podcaster Joe and his Rezzers. The mission is destroy the evidence and I take Colette. After me stopping him destroying some of his evidence the game ends 7-5. I could have gotten 8 but the terrain stop Cassandra from getting the neutral marker first move. Second game was Shared Escape and Survive I was playing against Colette and I took Raspitina. This was a HUGE mistake he spanked me into the group and killed everything I had 0-8 loss. Game 3 and Rezzers again, this time we are playing Shared Claim Jump, we tied at 5-5 with a huge pile of models on the claim marker. I ended up around the middle of the pack. Joe and the Colette player both placed but the Colette player passed it down. I wish I took some pictures but I was tired and forgot my camera in the hotel room. After the award I run upstairs and try to sleep.

Changes ahead

Well after letting this blog sit way too long without updates, it's time to get things rolling. Now that I am back in school, this will be a great place to keep up on my work and start using html more. I have a ton of painted stuff to post up as soon as I can take more pictures.

One of the major things I am doing right now is going on a buying freeze after I get 35 points of Khador. I will no longer buy any miniatures till I paint a army for every system I play. I have sold my Chaos Marines so I do not even have a painted 40k army. Right now I am finishing my Lothlorien army for Lord of the Rings. Then I plan on doing a 40k unit then a fantasy unit. After that I will work on either some Warmachine or Malifaux. I will continue to keep this up till all of it is painted. Not buying anything will be hard, but if I can get everything painted I will feel better about my collection. I will keep this update with my progress. Wish me luck!

40k Display Board Part 2

So with the board being based and ready to go the next step was to get it primed up. For this I used flat black Krylon primer. This step was a pain because I didn't want the paint to mess up in the humid weather we have been having so after I primed a bit of it I had to take it in to let it dry in the cooler air.

After a day of slowly getting the whole things good and primed.

After getting it primed I started on doing a quick couple of dry brushes of Apple Barrel Grey Paint. If you haven't tried this paint it is great for anything large terrain project and being around 2 bucks a big bottle it will last you for a good bit. So after dry brushing it, I went out and tried Krylon Mat Vanish since I had great things about it, and when I did it melted off the spray paint on the border of the board making me have to hand paint all of the sides. I don't know if I was using it too close or what but I hope I can get it to work on future projects since I have 2 cans of the stuff. So finally after repainting the sides and using a different varnish I finished the board and I am very happy with how it turned out.

40k Display Board Part 1

So with me trying to go to more tournaments I need a new display board as my old one had broken apart and was to big for easy transport. So with this in mind I went to walmart to get some items to make it with. I came home with some sand, spray paint and a 5 dollar cork board.

The glue I already had and the sand(forgot to take a picture of the board).

So with all the items I needed on hand I went to work covering the board with watered down glue and slowly putting the sand on it. I let this layer of sand dry for a day and then painted another layer of watered down glue on top of it. So after two days of work I have a board ready to prime and paint.
