Adepticon Review Day 2

Me fighting the dreamer at the cake match Thursday

So day 2 comes early with me getting up to make sure I get my 30 min early into the vendor hall. When I arrive down at it there is already a line for Forgeworld, oh well I just want the con only miniatures so I will pick them up later in the weekend without the wait. I get in and go right to battlefoam to buy the foam for super dungeon explorer for my wife, but they did not bring it with them. I head to the cool mini or not area and see there is really no one from soda pop miniatures this year. I pick up some instant mold and some spartan statue parts for terrain. I mess around most the day checking in on my friend playing in the lord of the rings tournament(for battle reports go to his blog .)

Finally it hits the time for the Malifaux Master Qualifier 1.  First game I am against Cheated Fates podcaster Joe and his Rezzers. The mission is destroy the evidence and I take Colette. After me stopping him destroying some of his evidence the game ends 7-5. I could have gotten 8 but the terrain stop Cassandra from getting the neutral marker first move. Second game was Shared Escape and Survive I was playing against Colette and I took Raspitina. This was a HUGE mistake he spanked me into the group and killed everything I had 0-8 loss. Game 3 and Rezzers again, this time we are playing Shared Claim Jump, we tied at 5-5 with a huge pile of models on the claim marker. I ended up around the middle of the pack. Joe and the Colette player both placed but the Colette player passed it down. I wish I took some pictures but I was tired and forgot my camera in the hotel room. After the award I run upstairs and try to sleep.

Adepticon 2012 Review Day 1

40k room going on full blast

So another Adepticon is behind us. After 10 hours of driving we arrived at the Con around 4pm on Thursday. After we checked, got our badges and ate dinner I went down to the Malifaux cake match.

All the cakes.

All the cakes where awesome, my zebra cakes looked crappy to most of them. We split off into teams of 3. My team was 2 outcast Viktoria crews and me playing Rasputina. Of the team I was the only one that won their match. That was fine as this was just a fun match and it was a good warm up for the weekend. After the match the judges all got a plate of cake and chowed down. After much eating and debating they crowned the winner. The pig cake which they said was the most moist.

The winning cake.
After the cake match was done I ran down to the 24 hour game store, and picked up a couple of Lord of the Rings miniatures and then headed to bed.

Changes ahead

Well after letting this blog sit way too long without updates, it's time to get things rolling. Now that I am back in school, this will be a great place to keep up on my work and start using html more. I have a ton of painted stuff to post up as soon as I can take more pictures.

One of the major things I am doing right now is going on a buying freeze after I get 35 points of Khador. I will no longer buy any miniatures till I paint a army for every system I play. I have sold my Chaos Marines so I do not even have a painted 40k army. Right now I am finishing my Lothlorien army for Lord of the Rings. Then I plan on doing a 40k unit then a fantasy unit. After that I will work on either some Warmachine or Malifaux. I will continue to keep this up till all of it is painted. Not buying anything will be hard, but if I can get everything painted I will feel better about my collection. I will keep this update with my progress. Wish me luck!

SteamBorg is active!

My Steamborg

So there he is. Took me a couple of hours to paint him, the blue on the skin really turned out dead making him look more undead since I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be living.

Workin in the soulstone mine

Long time no post. I have finally started painting my ramos crew and got them all based and ready to go. This is the start of me getting all my Arcanists painted up to use. This is everything I have, but I have a couple of models that are on order to add them.

I had to extend the base for this guy the model is really big and I didn't want to push the legs all the way in.

Another Model that really didn't fix in the base so I made a rock for it.

Some of my spiders, based with clock bitz and GW parts I have left over.

Failure of 2010 and Painting Points for 2011

Well 2010 has been a painting and modeling failure. Real Life and video games has totally gotten in the way of the hobby. But with 2011 is a new year and I will have a new army. I will be setting up a painting point system that I have seen on various blogs.

  • Infantry = 1 point
  • Cavalry or bikes or special characters/true scale (40mm bases)= 2 points
  • Monster or Dreadnought = 5 points
  • Vehicle or Large Monster = 10 points
  • Superheavy vehicle or Gargantuan Creature = 20 points
With this I am hoping I can get myself more on track with my painting and also get some of my friends into it so we can push each other to getting more done this year. My goals are to get 2000 points of Dark Eldar painted, one of my 2 fantasy armies painted to 2500, my 2 malifaux crews, and my necromunda models. This is a big list and I have a couple of other things I would like to do that are not finalized yet.

Gaming has also been a total fail this year when it coming to miniature gaming. So I have built a point system for that just to track how much I get to play year to year.

  • Small game (under 1k points)= 1 point
  • Malifaux or GW skirmish game = 2 points
  • Games Workshop normal sized game = 3 points
  • Apocalypse = 5 points
  • Store Tournament = 10 points
  • Indy Gt Tournament = 20 points
2011 looks be a better year with me and gaming so lets see how it will go. I will be going to Gen con and Adepticon this year with hopes for more. So big plans not to fail this year lets see if I can keep them.
