6th edition Rulebook cover and thoughts.

40k Rulebook cover

So here it is the cover for the new 6th rules of 40k. As with many people I am hoping this book will fix the issues that 5th edition was starting to show. Not that I think 5th was bad, just once again GW shows they love the codex creep as they did in 6th edition fantasy. So if we go by the price of the fantasy rulebook it will be 74.25.

Now I am sure this will be a awesome book just like the fantasy one. the issue I have is to get a cheap book I will have to wait till the 2 player set comes out. Will cost around 25 bucks then but I will have to grab it from eBay. So why does this matter? Well many other games the rules are cheaper to get you hooked into it.

Starting out with my favorite of them Malifaux, the rulebook is only 15 bucks. Now this book is just the rules.Even when you want more with fluff you can pick up this book and 2 of the books with fluff and model rules(not needed in the game since the rules come on the cards with the models) for the price of the GW book.I would rather see someone buy the rules and one of the starter boxes and even that will be around 20 bucks cheaper than the 40k rulebook.

The Warmachine/Hordes rulebooks are only 29.99 each, so with the savings you could buy one of their awesome starters for 50 to get you a good start to go with the book. Spartan games rulebooks are 33each and once again you can spend 50 bucks to get a awesome starter for any army that you want to go with it. Looking at some other games which I do not have any experience with Infinity the rulebook is 40, Dust Tactics is 40.00, Mantic Games have the rules for free and the only one that is close to GW in price is Flames of War at 60.00.

So as many other have stated before me, GW really needs to get their act together and get the price down some to make the game appealing to more people. I believe this will happened but not for a long time. The other companies are gaining more and more players and GW will not even think of them till they become a real threat to them. The only advice I can give you is if you are tired of GW prices, support the smaller companies and find a game you and your group will like and play it instead. The companies I have listed have all been around for years and will not be going anywhere and most will treat you like a person not just a dollar bill.

Adepticon Day 4 and Wrap up

Day 4

I finally get a good night of sleep. I arrive at the Malifaux masters and we started soon as all 8 of us made it there. I didn't take any pictures as I tried to make sure I did not make any mistakes. Of course I still did. Game one I played against Shawn who I beat in round 2 the day before. This time I won 8-2 and would have gotten 8-0 if we could have finished the last turn. We skip lunch and keep going, I face outcasts in the semi-finals. The mission is deliver the message his schemes are eye for an eye and kill protege, mine are sabotage and kill protege. My plan is to get sabotage off and kill my master so he cannot get the points from the mission and kill Cassandra so he cannot get kill protege. I move up Cassandra to set off sabotage but I do it in a way she cannot come back to my side of the board. She is shot down in a hail of fire and I cannot do the plan I had. With her down and 8 billion gremlins after me I lose the round 6-2. Andrew the guy I was playing was a lot of fun and went on to win it all. I spent the rest of the day just messing around and resting as by this point I was half dead.

Wrap up

So another Adepticon down. I had a ton of fun and I am planning on going next year. In total in Malifaux I went 5-3-1 so for only having one person to play against in my area I guess we are doing it right. I plan on next year to play different games I bought most of a Warmachine army while I was there and plan on bring it and my lord of the rings. I also plan on not doing any serious events, even though I had great games against great people, I think I would enjoy just playing in story events or doing pick up games for Warmachine. Next year I plan on getting VIG tickets again just because I will be getting a shirt and glass anyways so it is worth it for me. Changes ahead

Well after letting this blog sit way too long without updates, it's time to get things rolling. Now that I am back in school, this will be a great place to keep up on my work and start using html more. I have a ton of painted stuff to post up as soon as I can take more pictures.

One of the major things I am doing right now is going on a buying freeze after I get 35 points of Khador. I will no longer buy any miniatures till I paint a army for every system I play. I have sold my Chaos Marines so I do not even have a painted 40k army. Right now I am finishing my Lothlorien army for Lord of the Rings. Then I plan on doing a 40k unit then a fantasy unit. After that I will work on either some Warmachine or Malifaux. I will continue to keep this up till all of it is painted. Not buying anything will be hard, but if I can get everything painted I will feel better about my collection. I will keep this update with my progress. Wish me luck!
